Travelers Earnings Beat Estimates. Why the Stock Is Dropping Despite a Dividend Increase.

Shares of Travelers fell Thursday after the property and casualty insurer reported mixed quarterly earnings and raised its dividend. The company posted adjusted earnings of $7.71 a share for the first quarter, surpassing analysts’ consensus estimates of $7.07, according to FactSet. Travelers stock fell 1.7% in the premarket session.
