Dow Surges to Record High, Touching 49,000 for First Time

The Dow on Monday surged north of 49,000 for the first time. The blue-chip index rallied 651 points, or 1.4%. Following the U.S.'s capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Wall Street was favoring consumer discretionary, financials, energy, industrials, communication services, and materials.
