The Dow industrials added 0.9% and the Nasdaq composite gained 0.2%. The "modest fall" should be enough to persuade Federal Reserve policymakers to vote for another rate cut next week, said Stephen Brown of Capital Economics. The retailer’s stock was up 1.8%, a gain that pushed it above the market-cap milestone and made it the 12th U.S. company to surpass it, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
