Miran Prefers More Judicious Use of Fed’s Balance Sheet

Fed Governor Stephen Miran said he believes quantitative easing was “over-used” in the past by the central bank. Miran said he is “fully bought into the idea” of using the tool under traditional monetary policy to achieve the Fed’s dual mandate, “but only when you really need it.” He spoke Wednesday at University of Cambridge Judge Business School.
