Stocks were on course for further gains Wednesday after President Donald Trump said the U.S. would be leaving Iran in two to three weeks, bolstering investors’ hopes that the war in the Middle East could end soon. The three major indexes all surged on Tuesday, with the Dow jumping more than 1,100 points after Iranian state media reported that Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian had said his country was willing to end the war. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office late Tuesday that the U.S. would leave Iran “very soon,” adding that he has achieved his goal of eliminating Tehran’s nuclear threat.
