The major U.S. stock indexes were lower on Friday afternoon. The blue-chip index was down 494 points, or 1%. The S&P 500 was down 0.8% and the Nasdaq Composite was down 1.1%. The Dow is on pace to mark its ninth-straight month of gains, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
