In a podcast interview with Barron’s Advisor, the veteran market watcher predicts the S&P 500 will reach 7500 and expects growth stocks to outperform value names and large-caps to likely fare better than small-caps, whose earnings “can’t compete with the big-cap technology companies.” The stock market has done better than expected in 2025. When Bank of America announced in 2019 that it was dropping the brand Merrill Lynch from some of its corporate operations, replacing it in some spots with the bank’s brand, some commentators took it as a sign that “Merrill Lynch,” which Bank of America had acquired in 2009, would soon go the way of Bear Stearns or Smith Barney.
