Wall Street’s bonus pool is on track to smash records this year. New York’s top banks are cashing in on a stock market surge and revived dealmaking — fueling profits and, in turn, the city’s tax coffers. But the windfall is also sharpening debate over inequality as New York leans on Wall Street’s strength to fund its future.
